Biographie du Professeur Gaoussou CAMARA

Gaoussou CAMARA is an Associate Professor in Computer Science at Alioune Diop University in Bambey (UADB), Senegal, with over 15 years’ experience in higher education, research and innovation in Africa, carrying out research and innovation projects at national and sub-regional level. He is leading the Interdisciplinary Research Team in Medical Informatics and ICT for Education (IMTICE). Gaoussou specializes in management of biomedical data and knowledge. His work focuses on the design of electronic health records, hospital information systems and health surveillance systems.

Gaoussou is co-founder of the National Medical Information System for Senegal (SIMENS) project. He is COO of the startup Pyramidal Health Information Systems (PyramidHIS) which emerged from SIMENS.

From 2020 to 2024, he spent 4 years as coordinator of the Digital Science and Technology Network (DSTN), which brings together African Centers of Excellence (ACEs) from the World Bank and AFD ACE Impact project managed by the Association of African Universities (AAU) to, among other things, support network members’ responses to calls for tender from national, regional and international donors. In addition to the funds raised through its digital health projects, it has supported a number of applicants in responding to various calls for tenders, including ARISE/AAS, Erasmus+/EU, MOBAF/EU, BMGF, FIRST, CEA MITIC, Grand Challenge, IDRC, AFD, etc.
